So, a few posts down I introduced Iris, but I have never introduced Phyllis. We rescued her from being eaten by the coyotes. She's so cute and tiny. She's 4 months old. It took a couple of weeks for Iris to accept her, but as you can see from this pic, they are now inseparable...

So I took the kids to the soundstage today, to the production office, to be fitted for their parade scene costumes, which will shoot on the 28th of this month. Walking in was way cool. All the rooms were set up to look like Lincoln's office, a dining room, a kitchen, a living room...set in the late 1800's. It was like stepping back in time. And I felt a pang of sadness and anger that the scene in which I was going to be a part of was cut from the script. On our way out we stopped to watch a scene being filmed and I was just that much sadder that it wasn't ME in front of the camera...and it isn't going to be any time soon. At least, that's how I feel.
I'll just stop dreaming that way I won't be disappointed when one comes true, but then somebody realizes their mistake and quickly snatches it away from me.

So I just got a call from the casting director who informed me that my scene in Lost River has been cut. Yeah, story of my life. Oh well, I was honestly preparing for it, but that doesn't make it any less disappointing to have my dream come true and then have it abruptly snatched away from me. And I wasn't even thinking about the money that I lost as well. I was doing it cause it's what I love to do. And then Katie reminded me and I was like, "oh yeah, so I get fucked double!" I did nothing to deserve that. Well at least I get to shave off this God forsaken facial hair that I have been growing since August! GRRRRRRRR
I DID however get a speaking role in a short student film which I did yesterday, and that was fun.
Guess I'll go do laundry now.
At least the kids still get to be in the parade scene, which films later this month in Bisbee.
*sigh*

Here is what the movie, Lost River, is about. I didn't have any information about it until I found this article. I will be playing the role of Robert Laforest, who meets President Lincoln and asks him if he can borrow $10...Look for the film, hopefully to be released Spring 2008. (but you know how that goes!)
'A great place to make a movie'
By Lauchlin Fields
[10/12/07] A film crew rolled into Vicksburg Wednesday to shoot scenes for a film that might make it to the big screen.
At least three Vicksburg sites will set the scene for "Lost River," a biography of Anna Carroll, one of America's unsung women heroes, credited with planning military strategies to help Union forces defeat the Confederacy during the Civil War.
Re-enactors -- many from the Sons of Confederate Veterans in Monroe -- joined locals dressed in period costume gathered in an area along Warriors Trail Road Thursday to shoot one of the scenes for the film, set to be released spring 2008, director Jason Urban of Lost River Productions said.
It is Urban's first large-scale feature and fourth film. He is directing the film with assistant director Greer Flax.
The scene, which captures the Big Black River railroad bridge in the background, dramatizes the Battle of Rappahannock, fought in Virginia in 1862.
"It was one of the worst disasters in military history," screenplay author and producer Bruce Bridegroom said. "The Union lost 12,000 men in half an hour."
Carroll's story is compelling and two years of planning have preceded the camera work, Bridegroom said.
"I thought it was a good story that nobody knew about and thought it would make a good movie," Bridegroom said. Even though his subject was from Maryland, Bridegroom said "Lost River," which has scenes depicting Virginia, Maryland and St. Louis, was a perfect fit for Vicksburg.
"The Battle of Vicksburg was the culmination of her plan -- to get rid of the Mississippi River forts," he said. "Vicksburg was the last to fall. We figured as long as we're in this area, we can find other stuff."
To set the scene of Carroll's family plantation, the crew shot a scene at Rosswood Plantation in Lorman. To depict St. Louis in 1861, producers shot scenes at Natchez Under the Hill.
"St. Louis in 1861 doesn't exist anymore, so we used (that)," Bridegroom said.
The Old Court House Museum was the scene for filming Wednesday. The writer said the city "is a great place to make a movie. It's so pretty and not built up and developed," he said. "We looked around Virginia, but everything was built up. It was not accommodating."
The film will follow Carroll's life until her death in 1893. That scene will be shot at the cemetery for St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Bovina.
"It's a beautiful place -- and it looks period," Bridegroom said.
Abraham Lincoln, elected president in 1860, will be one of the characters in the film. According to history, Carroll celebrated Lincoln's election by freeing her slaves, which numbered close to 100. Known as a nationalist opposed to secession of the Southern states, she used her writing as a tool for shaping policy in her home state. One of her writings was a pamphlet on Lincoln's presidential powers, which landed her an unofficial spot in his Cabinet. In 1861, Carroll went to St. Louis to visit relatives and noticed how the Tennessee River, unlike the Mississippi, was not well fortified, Bridegroom said.
"She realized the military significance of this and telegraphed her plan to Washington," Bridegroom said. "The Tennessee River is the 'lost river,' and so is her life. Lincoln followed her plan using Grant as the general."
With her plan, Union Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, who will also be portrayed in the movie, was able to take Fort Henry, Fort Donaldson and all of the forts along the Mississippi. But, when it came time to credit the person responsible for developing the plan that ultimately led to the defeat of the Confederacy, no one would step up to say it was, indeed, Carroll, Bridegroom said.
"They couldn't give her credit during the war because she was a civilian and she was a woman," he said. "After the war, Lincoln died (and) she was forgotten about. In 1876, there was a Senate hearing to make her an honorary general. They never granted it, but they never denied it."
Bridegroom hopes the movie will help give Carroll the credit she is due.
"She's as important as any American woman in the 19th century. I can't think of any woman more important than Anna Carroll," he said.

Here you can read the review that I posted about the Anaheim Travelodge, the DRAMA referenced in the post below:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g29092-d75528-r10002585-Travelodge_Anaheim_International_Inn-Anaheim_California.html
We booked this through Priceline for a 4-nt. stay and I will never book anything in Anaheim for less than $80/night, to assure we do not get this property again! Upon check-in, we were met with two teenage girls at the front desk who were very unfriendly. They informed us that we would have to pay a $50 deposit which would be refunded at check-out. For a family on a budget this was not acceptable and nowhere on the Priceline website NOR the Travelodge website does it mention anything about ANY type of deposit. But they were unwavering and charged us anyway...very frustrating when we only paid a $20 deposit for a Marriott in San Diego, which was refunded.
When we got to our room one of our sons went to the bathroom and came right back out to tell us that there was poop on the toilet seat. It was dried and had obviously been there a while. We took pictures and immediately called the front desk. They girl who answered said 'housekeeping is not here and there's nothing I can do about it right now. I'll inform the manager in the morning.' And that was it. So we had to scrub human feces off of the toilet ourselves. It was 3 days later that we finally got to speak to the manager, only because we returned to our room one afternoon to find him, his assistant and ALL of housekeeping taking pictures of all of our stuff and one of the mattresses, because my son had accidentally pee'd on the bed in his sleep.
We were informed at that time that we would NOT be getting our $50 deposit back and would be charged an ADDT'L $100 for the damaged mattress! There was NO WAY we were going to accept this charge. If they are going to charge us to clean the mattress, then we should be able to charge them for having to clean human waste off of a toilet seat. They, unfortunately, are not in agreement with us. All they do is apologize. So they are getting money from us that we don't have, and all we're getting is an apology. So we are taking this to corporate and will not stop until we have our $50 back.
I'm not saying do not stay here. It is close to disney (driving time about 3 minutes) and the hot tub is HOT! Donuts and juice are served in the morning. All I"m saying is beware and be careful!

So we went to the production meeting last night. Signed contracts, got scripts, etc. I will have two lines - a conversation with President Lincoln. Can't wait! Filming will likely take place mid - late Oct. I have to drive out to Oracle for wardrobe fittings this Saturday...and that's about an hour from here (in traffic)...ugh. Oh well. It's a somewhat scenic drive. The kids will be fitted as well for their Parade scene in Nov. in Bisbee.
I'll keep you posted!

I posted this back in 2005 and just came across it today, and I really like it, so I'm reposting it. Your thoughts?
YOUR LIFE
So she asked if I’m happy with my life,
and I know where I am and I like it...
it’s not too often you get a clear view of your mind
when the world is aligned and your eyes see her beauty...
Now follow me down
to the well of disbelieving
and look inside your own life, it’s deceiving...
bring up the pail but leave the web you’ve been weaving
‘cause it’s your life now and like a book you keep reading...
to discover yourself you’re hell bent on not leaving
but you know it’s not real, it’s not water,
you’re bleeding...
And so I tell her I know where I’m going to be,
and I know who I am and I’ll get there...
and I won’t come undone when my fears overtake me
she sees the world in my eyes and to them she is my beauty...
Now follow me down
to the well of disbelieving,
and look inside your own life, you’re only dreaming...
of a world you’ve made caught in the web you’ve been weaving
but it’s your life now, you’re the book they’ve been reading
to discover the lie about the truth you’re deceiving,
and you know it’s not real, it’s not right
you're still bleeding...
you’re only dreaming of the truth,
but it’s a lie,
you're still bleeding

YAY! So I was just called by the casting agent yesterday to offer me a role in the upcoming feature The Lost River. A civil war era film. It will be shot here and in MS. I'll play the role of Robert LaForest. I believe he's a senator or congressman. MY FIRST SPEAKING ROLE! :-) I am too excited for words. The production meeting is on the 29th. I'll keep you posted. I believe filming is to take place in Oct/Nov.

The Good Lord took back one of his angels from our friends Mick & Linda on August 4th. His name was Khristopher McFarland. We went to the funeral yesterday. It was THE saddest thing I have ever experienced. He was 15 and died of complications caused by Muscular Dystrophy. Despite his disability, he was one of the brightest and wittiest kids I know. He loved food, loved to cook (he wanted to be chef) - a couple of his recipes are on the menu at Little Anthony's Diner here.
He will be missed.
Rest well, Khris! We love you!!!

And so the end of a decade of Harry Potter comes to an end...and with it, a sadness knowing that we will no longer have a Harry Potter journey to look forward to. I have just finished book 7 and let me say it is an absolute TRIUMPH! The BEST in the series by far! I am honored to have been a part of it for the past 10 years, and now I can close that chapter of my life and move on to something...else, though, I fear, not nearly as exhilarating.
I can say no more, only that I am 'satisfied' with how JK has brought the story to a close...I have finally convinced Katie to read book 6, having seen all 5 movies, because surely in the next three years (The Deathly Hallows Motion Picture slated for 2010) she will hear people talking about what happens in book 7.

Okay, it was really the ISS and the space shuttle...Katie and I went out back and looked NNE and we were watching what appeared to be...something, moving. But then as we noticed the flashing lights, yeah, just a plane. But then Katie noticed two bright lights moving rather quickly, one following the other...THAT'S THEM YAAAY! They were visible for about 20 seconds before they disappeared. It was pretty cool, I must say. Supposed to be visible until like the 1st of July...haven't quite figured that one out yet, but I'll be lookin'
http://spaceflight1.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/
You can visit the above link, enter your country, state and city and it'll tell you if and when you can view the ISS and the shuttle moving across the night sky.
*****update*****the shuttle has landed in CA, two days before its scheduled landing in FL, due to bad weather. So the ISS will be visible until 6/25...check the schedule for more info.

So, I still have not found that Leslie Phillips cd that I've been hunting for. One day...soon.
I did manage to get two other cd's from her (Sam Phillips) though from Ebay..."The Indescribable Wow" & "Cruel Inventions". LOVE THEM LOVE THEM LOVE THEM!
But "Beyond Saturday Night" continues to elude me...but I'm hot on its trail and it WILL BE MINE! IF ANYONE CAN FIND THAT CD AND LET'S ME KNOW ABOUT IT SO THAT I CAN GET IT, I WILL PAY YOU A FINDER'S FEE OF $.77!
On another note, YAAY we (Wailing Bansidhe Investigations) are FINALLY done with our investigations and so no more traveling all over this God forsaken state! Katie and Patrick have to sort everything out now and do some editing, and then their manuscript can be turned in by the end of this month. SO EXCITED to be done with this! They are planning their second book now but at least that one doesn't involve any traveling.
Hey, if you want a paranormal experience of your own, check out The Noftsger Hill Inn, in Globe, AZ. We got some CRAZY SHIT the night we stayed there. You'll have to wait until the book comes out next Spring, but you can hear some EVP sound clips by visiting our website. And the lady who owns the place (Rosalie) is the nicest and most hospitable woman you will ever meet!
On another note: I am finally taking guitar lessons. Have always wanted to. It's a Parks and Rec Summer class. 10 weeks. Every Tuesday night. We get a 90% discount on all classes so mine only cost $3! The kids are both on Karate every Saturday afternoon and then Liam has gymnastics on Sundays. I think both of their classes combined cost a total of about $9. FUN FUN.
CAN'T WAIT TIL SEPTEMBER!
Peace.

At least for me, anyway. I am on a Leslie (Sam) Phillips kick right now...going back to the 80's and revisiting all of her songs that got me through those tough times in my life. Lots of memories...some good, mostly bad. Anyway, I recently came across this video on YouTube...I didn't even know the video existed! YAY! I am trying to get my hands on her "Beyond Saturday Night" cd, but it's very rare and LONG out of print, so wish me luck! Some bitch...I take that back, as I am trying to be more positive in my life now...Some "lady who needs the money to feed her kids" is tring to sell the cd on Ebay for $99.99!
Anyway, looking at this video, it's funny as hell how 80's it is! LOVE THE HAIR! :-)
Here is how she looks now...

So on May 1st, all business will become smoke-free and let me just say, "IT'S ABOUT DAMNED TIME!" I can't stand walking into someplace and have people right outside the door smoking. I used to be a smoker, so I know what I'm talking about. I do not miss the way I smelled, how yellow my teeth were, how out of breath I used to be...I mean, there is NOTHING GOOD that comes from smoking.
When I was on the set of SNAPPERS I sat and listened to countless people, one guy in particular, talk about how he has had two heart attacks, countless surgeries, he has so many health problems...AND HE WAS SMOKING WHILE TELLING THIS STORY! Dude, just shoot yourself and get it over with, CHRIST, then I don't have to sit here and breathe in your fucking smoke :::cough cough:::

So yes indeed, it was the interior airplane scenes which were shot tonight. Funny, anytime you see an airplane scene in the movies, they're not REALLY on an airplane...they're in the TCC! :-)
Quite interesting how they build the set. Once "aboard", you've got lights, and cameras, and microphones everywhere...all completely invisible to the average moviegoer. Kinda cool. Can't wait to see it. I won't spoil the ENTIRE movie and tell you what happens. You'll just have to wait for 1o months to see it. :-)
Oh and of course...MMM yummy roasted chicken, rice and rolls. For dessert, German Chocolate cake.
:::goes off now to do 2,000 sit ups:::
Tomorrow is the last day of filming. I had a great time, can't wait for the next film to roll through here.
Bye folks!

So just got a call letting me know that my call time is at noon tomorrow down at the TCC (Tucson Convention Center). Again, no bright yellows, reds or whites...oh and this time no blues...the seats are blue. I'm guessing that tomorrow will be the interior "airplane" scene. I'll let you know. Hopefully it won't be another 14 hour day, but if it is, hey, that's the biz...and another yummy dinner! LOL

Alright, so hello again. I'm so tired right now. But I can't complain too much. K had to get up and go to work this morning, so...
One of the great things about doing this type of work is the FOOD! They definitely don't skimp (sp?) on that. For breakfast they served breakfast burritos, croissants with egg, cheese and sausage, pancakes and bagels (also with egg, cheese and sausage - mcmuffin style). Fruit was ALWAYS made available, along with coffee, juice, soda, hot chocolate. Then if you work 6 hours (which we DEF did - 14 to be exact!) you get dinner...we got roasted garlic chicken, rolls, baked potatoes, broccoli, salad, fruit, two kinds of cheesecake (of which I did NOT partake, and anyone who knows me knows why I did not). :-) And wherever you are, there are always snacks to be had.
Anyway, One of the actor's name is Jeremy Renner. In the airport scene, where he's getting out of the car toward the end of the movie, I walk past the camera. I stop to let him cross in front of me, then I continue on my way (a passenger walking outside the airport). Another scene I did was dressed in a blue jump suit (ground crew for WESTERNBLUE AIRLINES) attending a surprise going away party for "Tina" . (Flight attendant retiring after 12 years, I believe) Hopefully I'll be visible there, too. Oh, and the scene where they're pulling up to the airport, watch for a guy (ME) pushing another guy in a wheelchair...
So I've been in 4 scenes so far, and supposed to do 2 more days next week, so at least I know that ALL my scenes won't end up on the cutting room floor.
Oh and this film is about a salesman and an inventor. It's a rags to riches story about these people who I guess invent the talking bottle opener (actual product) and it becomes a world-wide phenomenon. I don't know if this is THEIR story, but who's else could it be?
They were filming a gamblers anonymous scene also last night so I take it one of the actors has a gambling problem...
Anyway, I'll keep you updated about all the latest news about "Snappers." Next week we're filming at the convention center and some other building downtown. **UPDATE: Snappers is now on IMDB.
A list of actors (who I know about) in this film: And let me just say that I think it's really good that I had NO IDEA who exactly these people were when we were on set together...I mean, I had never heard of them...as far as I was concerned, they were just local actors doing this low-budge cheesy film...BOY WAS I WRONG. And I guess it's good that you don't know who someone is, that way you don't walk around all "star-struck" and goofy. Better to find out later and be like, 'hey, cool, I had no idea.' I certainly have a different opionion now about this movie and it's "stars". I put the word "stars" in quotes because I, nor any actor you talk to, considers him/her self to be a "star". We're just normal people who lead "normal" lives...well, some of us more normal than others... :)

So call time was 11a.m. They took us into the "holding area" at 12:15 for about 15 minutes then we got to go out to the tables...there were about 25 of us...3 -5 people at each table...I got to sit next to a guy who chain smoked for 4 hours straight and did nothing but cuss and try his damndest to get in front of the camera...I hate a fucker who is there JUST to be in a movie...
The dealer gave us a quick run down on how the game is played (they had to come in on their day off and be in this movie - and they were not very happy about it, let me tell you.)
I had no idea it was so easy - and fun! I was always too afraid to go play at the tables...but it's really no big deal...just don't expect to win any money!
Anyway, I and 3 others got to sit at the table with the 2 of the lead actors (Jeremy and Marguerite) while they filmed the final scene. (The guy mentioned above was pissed that it wasn't HIM). Pretty exciting stuff! Hopefully I'll make it onto the screen. I also got to walk past the table a few times so I'm bound to be in there somewhere! :-) (during the casino scene(s), look for the guy in the green shirt...THAT'S ME!)
A good time was had by all. They wrapped at about 4:15, paid us cash and sent us home.
Tomorrow they're filming at the airport...that should be interesting.
Peace.

So my fellow movie-goers...Hollywood is here, currently filming a movie called "SNAPPERS", although that's ALL I know about the film. The casting agent called me a few days ago to offer me the position of STAND-IN for Richard Kind. I'm WAY excited! I actually get to mingle with the "stars". So I met with her yesterday (the casting agent) and I'll be doing the stand-in work April 1,2,3 and a casino scene on March 27th and an airplane "LAX" scene on the 28th. The pay is great and I'M TOTALLY STOKED! =)
I'll keep you updated on the latest Hollywood gossip.
Peace out.

I hate a hypocrite! After The Dixie Chicks made that anti-Bush comment (2003), the industry shunned them, fans burned their cd's and even went as far as sending death threats...
Ah, but fast forward 4 years to the Grammy Awards...The Chicks won all 5 awards for which they were nominated - including album (Taking the Long Way) and song of the year (Not Ready To Make Nice). On the top 20 chart, they went from number 72 to number 8. Two weeks ago, their then-moribund album moved 6,000 copies; after the five-award sweep, it sold 103,000!
It just goes to show that you should never be afraid to speak your mind, cause chances are, people will agree with you...they're just too chicken shit to say it themselves!
Way to make a come-back!
